Late Saturday, August 28, 19 youth, including church members and guests, met at FUMC for a sleepless night of fun, service, food, and prayer. Activities included a midnight swim, games, rearranging the youth Sunday school rooms, and eating LOTS of bananas, chips, and cereal. Activities concluded with our very sleepy participants lined up in the front two rows for Sunday morning worship. We hope to see all of our members and guests back soon for more activities.

Reminder: youth group meets at the regular time, 4-6 pm, on Sunday.

You’re invited to the dedication of the home at 119 S. 13th Street today from 1-3 PM. Refreshments will be available. Come and see the house the Youth of this church helped build.

At the YMCA of Vincennes, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.

We invite you to a FISH FRY dinner on Saturday, August 21 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Y, 2010 College Avenue. The menu includes fish, coleslaw, chips, a drink and dessert. All proceeds provide financial assistance for membership and programs for children in need.

ATTENTION PARENTS AND JUNIOR HIGH YOUTH (PLUS ANY INTERESTED SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH)

A Confirmation Class is beginning this fall. Any youth in Junior High or Senior High is invited to come to an organizational meeting on Sunday, August 29th with your parents, immediately following worship (10:30 AM) at the front of the sanctuary. We will check schedules and plan the best time to meet each week and answer any questions you might have.

Assistance is needed with Disciple Mart, BOTH THURSDAY AT 10 AM, AND SATURDAY, AUGUST 7 AT 9:30 AM at the First Christian Church, 319 Broadway Street. Adults of all ages and youth are needed to assist with the distribution of back packs and school supplies. This is a very organized and enjoyable event that meets the needs of about 500 students in our community.

Please call Sue at 882-0742 by Thursday, August 5, to let her know if you can assist.

Wednesday Bible Study resumes tonight, August 4 at 7 p.m. in the All-Occasion Room with Bill Amers. Everyone welcome to join us.

A new church cookbook is being put together by the ICU Class. If you have a recipe that you’d like included in the cookbook, please type or print it, and bring it or e-mail it to the church office as soon as possible.

We’re trying to have recipes from as many members of our church as possible in this cookbook. If a recipe is from a deceased member of our church, we would like to publish their picture with the recipe. If you only have a printed photo, we can scan the picture into a JPG file.
